i had the idea as i was working on this painting to overlap birds on a star constellation chart, similar to the old maps showing the various animals, gods and mythological creatures. here, the birds become the constellations. stars can serve as a means of navigation, so i liked the connection with the birds and teh idea of migration. there is also a map collaged at the bottom of the painting, further linking this idea.
